Something BIG has happened in our mountain
community--
the Blue Spruce Habitat for Humanity Home Builders Blitz 2008
The Habitat Home Builders Blitz was a great success! Two
homes were built in just nine days in Kittredge from September
3rd through 12th. This incredible undertaking was make possible
by 5 local homebuilders and more than 40 different subs and suppliers
who generously donated their time, labor, material and expertise,
as well as local banks and others who provided cash donations.
The
spirit of generosity and community was evident as everyone worked
side by side to deliver these homes on time. Local churches,
companies and others provided breakfast and lunch and stood in
awe as the homes went up before their very eyes. Denine Perry
and her two daughters, and Yvonne La Fon and her son and grandson
will now have a decent, affordable, and beautiful place to call
home.

The builders:
Habitat is extremely grateful to the five generous local builders who
have signed on to lead the Home Builders Blitz.

Our wonderful builders are: (L to R) Perry Timon of Timon Development,
Inc., Fred Turek of Triad Builders, Liam Cassidy of Cassidy, Inc., Andy
Ades of Ades Design Builders, Allen Hicks of Triad Builders, and Roger
Ladd of Brittany Builders.
The donors and community:
The Home Builders Blitz galvanized the community to step up and
do more for affordable housing, and raised awareness for the positive
contributions that the building industry provides for our community. Many
companies and people made the blitz possible and Habitat is so very grateful.

Blue
Spruce Habitat for Humanity extends its deepest gratitude to everyone
who made the Habitat Home Builders Blitz possible. In 2009
we will build another duplex, and with enough support, will possibly
build two more duplexes, right next to this one. Join us,
we have many more homes and lives to build!
About the homeowners:Two hardworking families are selected to purchase these homes. One
of these is Yvonne Le Fon and
her children (pictured) who are extremely excited to be a part of
the Home Builders Blitz.
Denine and her twin daughters are also thrilled to become
homeowners. Denine has moved often in her search for an affordable place
to live. Until recently, she and the girls lived in her mother's basement.
Denine knew she wanted more for her daughters and applied for a Habitat
Home. Yvonne and Denine have both completed their 250 hours of sweat equity,
and look forward to seeing their homes go up in 9 days!
